It's been a great adventure returning to one of our favorite places. The first time we drove we were captivated by every new town, every new scene, the wild dogs, the scattered whale bones, or the first sight of the marshy end to the Colorado River, drying up before it can reach the Sea. It takes 30 hours to drive from our house to Loreto, B.C.S. and that fascination for the novel makes the time slip by without focusing on the discomfort of sitting in the same seat for 8 hours at a time. This time we made better time, partially because we left our 25 foot trailer at home, partially because we had prepared food for quick stops, and probably because we knew where and when to stop. This time we were still captivated by the stunning landscapes, the small towns, and the desolate highways, but with a deep sense of gratitude that we get to make this trip again.

Our first day in Loreto is a relief from driving but filled with excitement for what adventures await our visit.

It’s hard to see but those are dolphins. We stopped at a turnout about 90 minutes north of Loreto to watch them.
